Remembering Andrea Bosic

Andrea Bosic was born Ignazio Andrej Božič on August 15, 1919. He moved to Rome where he attended acting classes at the National Academy of Dramatic Art, obtaining his diploma in 1945 and immediately began working in theater. He made his debut in the Society of Anna Magnani with the comedy “Maya”, directed by Orazio Costa; subsequently he worked with Vittorio Gassman, Bourbons Paola and Giorgio Strehler at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
 
Bosic was very active in television work at RAI in 1956, both in comedies than in dramas typical of the period, less important was his presence in radio dramas.
 
In the cinema he began acting in 1951, directed by Baccio Bandini, in the movieAmo un assassin”, the first film in a long series of work, where he passes through the various types of  genres from adventure, crime, peplum and appearing in thirteen Euro-westerns from “Fort Yuma Gold” in 1966 to “Guns for Dollars” in 1971.
 
He finishes his acting career at the end of the 1980s. He spent the last years of his life in Bologna, Italy at the Retirement Home for Dramatic Artists Lyda Borelli, the only facility in Italy, reserved for former actors / actresses of theater and cinema. Bosic died there on January 8, 2012 at 93.
 
Today we remember Andre Bosic on what would have been his 95th birthday.
