Spaghetti Western Locations

Continuing our hunt for locations used in the Euro-western “Shalako”. The Countess and Shalako resume their ride after a brief meeting with Chato and their promise to leave the reservation the following morning. The two arrive at an abandoned ranch that is built more like a fort and find the rest of the hunting party preparing for dinner.

The location of the fort is in the Playa Monsul bay and beach area just past the visitors center on the other side of the dirt road. The set was completely dismantled after filming and only small pieces of rock used for the foundation of the walls can be found with some difficulty.

  1. It took two trips there with the late Don Bruce to find that location.

  2. Apparently part of the deal that allowed them to use that area for the fort was for the total removal of it when filming was completed. They did a good job because you, Don and I looked all over and found little evidence of anything left excpet that brick structure that looks like some kind of well.
