Remembering Herbert Fux

Herbert Fux was born in Hallein, Austria on March 25, 1927. After his basic schooling was completed in 1944 he studied at the Salzburg Mozarteum and then worked as a theater actor, first in Salzburg and Vorarlberg, then onto Vienna. In the 1960s, Fux was a popular film and television actor - especially as a "movie villain". In the 1960s and early 1970s, he averaged making ten films per year. He was also seen alongside Klaus Kinski - for example in "Jack the Ripper" (1976). Even then he stood out in front of the camera in such roles as "Sebesta" in the ORF-TV series "Kaisermühlen Blues". Fux became politically active in Salzburg in 1974 where he became a founding member of the Green Party of Austria and a member of the parliament during the 1980s, but he withdrew soon after to concentrate on acting once again. Overall, Herbert Fux acted in over 120 feature films and 300 television productions. Fux appeared in four Euro-westerns “Beyond the Law” (1967), “Hate is My God” (1969), “Sonny & Jed” (1972) and “Trinity, the Clown, the Guitar” (1975). Herbert died March 13, 2007 in Salzburg, Austria. Today we remember Herbert Fux on what would have been his 85th birthday.
