Happy 65th Birthday Candice Bergen

Candice Patricia Bergen was born on May 9, 1946 in Beverly Hills, California. She is the daughter of actor, ventriloquist Edgar Bergen [1903-1978] and actress, model Frances Bergen [1922-2006]. She is the sister of actor, film editor Kris Bergen [1961- ]. Bergen started her career with appearances on her father’s radio program and then went into modeling. Her first screen appearance was in "The Group" (1966) but she received her first recognition opposite Steve McQueen in 1967's "The Sand Pebbles". This was followed by such films as "Live for Life" (1967), "The Magus" (1968), "The Adventurers" and "Soldier Blue" (1970). Some of her most remembered roles were in "Carnal Knowledge" (1971), "The Wind and the Lion" and "Bite the Bullet" (1975), "Oliver’s Story" (1978), "Starting Over" (1979) and "Ghandi" (1982). Bergen became a huge star in the television series "Murphy Brown" (1988-1998). She later appeared on "Boston Legal" (2005) and she was the first female host on TV’s "Saturday Night Live". Candice now has a recurring role on TV’s "House". Bergen was married to French director Louis Malle from 1980 until his death in 1995. In 2000 she married real estate magnate Marshall Rose. Candice made one Euro-western "The Hunting Party" (1971) with Gene Hackman and Oliver Reed. Today we celebrate Candice Bergen’s 65th birthday.
